Dealer Julian Leidman Victim of Vehicle Burglary

The Township of Montville, New Jersey police department is investigating the October 11, 2009 auto burglary of coin dealer Julian Leidman. Mr. Leidman was enroute home after participating in Coinfest held in Stamford Connecticut. The suspect or suspects entered the victim’s vehicle by smashing out a side window and removing his inventory. The inventory which had significant value included several identifiable coins, foreign coins, currency and bullion.

Rochester New Hampshire Dealer Burglarized Loss Exceeds $60,000

Rochester , New Hampshire police are investigating a residential burglary which resulted in the loss of over $60,000 in rare coins. The suspect or suspects gained entry by kicking in the back door of the residence. The victim, a local coin dealer, advised the coins were housed in four PCGS boxes and removed from a locked desk. Mohave County Sheriff's Office Investigating Theft of Kellogg & Humbert Gold Ingot

The Mohave County Sheriff’s department in Arizona is investigating the theft of a Kellogg & Humbert gold ingot. The ingot was taken from a collectors residence. The ingot is stamped with serial number 834 and weighs 36.77 ounces. Any collector or dealer with any information should contact Sgt. SS Central America Gold Kellogg & Humbert Face Plate Stolen

A large SS Central America gold Kellogg & Humbert face plate from ingot number 881 was recently stolen in southern California. This item is easy to identify as it is unique, encased in a large plexy glass case and its weight is 33oz. The Kellogg & Humbert stamp is prominent on the face and the serial number 881 is stamped across the top. Ontario County Sheriff's Office Investigating $20,000 Burglary

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office in Canandaigua New York is investigating a residential burglary of a Manchester, New York collector. On July 23, 2009 suspects entered the residence and removed over $20,000 in proof sets and bullion. The stolen items included over 850 late date proof sets, silver bars in varying sizes and numerous silver rounds.

Spectrum Currency Reports Loss of 1933 $10 Silver Certificate

Spectrum Currency has reported the loss of a 1933 $10 Silver Certificate. Peter Treglia Director of Currency for Spectrum advised the $10 note was lost or stolen in the mail. La Verne, CA Dealer Don Hauser Burglarized and Large Amount of U.S. and Foreign Gold Coins Stolen

La Verne, CA police are investigating the burglary of coin dealer Don Hauser.The loss included a large amount of U.S and foreign gold coins. One suspect is in custody and additional arrests are pending . It is believed the suspects are attempting to sell the coins in the southern California area.

Cary North Carolina Police and NCIC Locate Owner of Seized Coins and Bullion

Cary North Carolina Police and the Numismatic Crime Information Center have located the owner of seized coins and bullion. Cary police arrested a suspect in the posession of approximately $70,000 in coins and bullion at a local hotel. Doug Davis President of NCIC stated, “The successful resolution of this incident was directly related to the cooperation between NCIC,the Cary Police Department and several dealers in southern Florida”.

1922 $20 NGC Die Adjustment Strike Lost or Stolen

New York Gold Mart in Manhasset, NY has reported the loss of a 1922 $20 NGC Die Adjustment Strike. The coin was sent via Express mail and never made it to the addressee in Colorado. The coin came out of the Heritage’s February 2009 sale, lot 2280 with serial number 3254046-001.

Dealer Robbed While Unloading at Illinois Coin Show

Bloomington,IL - Bloomington, Illinois police are investigating the robbery of coin dealer Frank Zapushek and the loss of over $65,000 in gold coins, peace dollars and cash. Mr. Zapushek was assaulted and two briefcases taken while unloading his vehicle at 6:45am March 28, 2009 at a local coin show. Mr. Zapushek was not seriouly injured and suspects have not been identified.
